The Panic Room – The Don.
Location: Gravesend
Game Date 21/08/2017.
Team: Amy & Ian
Theme:
“You will be Infiltrating the den of the notorious mafia boss “Don Romano”, with a vast resume of crimes against him it is finally time to take him down once and for all!
The chancellors daughter has been murdered, she had been seeing Don Romano for the past year and we believe he is the culprit.
No time for a warrant! You and your team will need to break in, turn the place over and gather evidence of all of his crimes. He is an extremely paranoid man who kept everything locked up tight which is why he has evaded prison this long. Gather your team to gather your evidence and escape before he returns or you may end up sleeping with the fishes.”
Theming was great, a cosy living room & office set up, with excellent finish, setting the scene perfectly yet not being overly cluttered or tacky. Good immersion through various storytelling techniques (no spoilers here, but there are some excellent surprises along the way, I really wish I could say, but I wouldn’t want to spoil such a great moment).
The room was spacious, and groups will not feel like they are stepping on each other’s toes, and every piece of furniture/prop was used to its full extent!
Game Play:
A fairly liner, classic escape room. With some of the most beautiful padlocks I’ve ever seen in an escape room!
Excellent puzzles that excelled in their flawless logic. Puzzles leant towards codebreaking and observation (and there was no maths!!) with some audio/visual and hands on puzzles too. Not too much searching, but enough to keep busy
A varied room with each puzzle having a fantastic ah-ha moment. The ah-ha moments kept coming thanks to the games excellent flow, which never faltered in the entirety of our game.
This room would be a perfect introduction to escape rooms, as within 10 minutes a newbie team will be enjoying solving the puzzles, which in their logical nature lead to satisfying results and progression.
Enthusiasts would enjoy this in a smaller group. Newbies, take a 4 or 5. The extra brainpower will come in handy on some of the trickier puzzles!
Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen, which was beautifully themed to be a grandfather clock.
Game Host:
Cameron was our Game Host, and was so friendly, personable and enthusiastic (a reoccurring theme for all our Gamehosts across our time at The Panic Room) He delivered our 1 hint with perfect timing, and it was clear he was paying close, close attention to us!
Did we escape?
Yes, in 38 minutes
