Deadlocked: The Vault Squad
Game Date: 28/12/2019
Team: Amy & Ian
2A group of talented criminals brought together by the criminal mastermind, Shanks, are tasked with testing the security of the huge ‘Wexell Bank’ in Loughborough, but is Shanks really on your side, or is he setting you all up to take the heat for a real heist?”
Deadlocked is situated in the most MASSIVE building, and tucked away in the corner they have utilised a very interesting space to create “Vault Squad” with plenty of space but lots of different levels and alcoves to explore.
The decoration was good, clean and simple and portrayed a bank well. There were no red herrings or distractions in the decor.
The light level was fairly dim, but this is in keeping with the atmosphere and immersion in the game and we were provided with torches.
Space was never an issue within this game.
A fairly open game with observation, physical, logic, communication, word and searching puzzles.
Each and every puzzle was logical, on theme and fun to complete. There was no ambiguity in the answers to the puzzles and all had lovely ah-ha moments.
Signposting was excellent, with the game going so far as to working instructions on how to use a directional lock into the narrative of the game, clever and unique!
Flow was again excellent and we were kept moving through the room with ease and there were no sticky moments.
An excellent game which combines narrative, and immersive world and good puzzles to create a fully realised world and a logical, enjoyable game.
This would be a perfect room for first-timers, not for its ease (as it’s not an easy room) but in it’s excecution, it’s the whole package.
Clues were delivered via a video link with your other “squad” members! Very immersive
Neil was our game host and was lovely, professional and delivered us good clues and a thorough brief. He dealt with a technical problem very well within the room.
Did we escape?
Yes, in about 35 minutes
