Enigma Rooms – Escape The Chocolate Factory

Enigma Rooms – Escape The Chocolate Factory
Location: Hull
Game Date: 28/05/2021
Team: Amy & Ian
Duration: 60 Minutes

Theme:
“After spending your whole life looking at the outside of the worlds most mysterious chocolate factory you finally get chance to step inside.
Will you be lucky enough to get in and marvel at the wonders within and then escape to tell the tale?”

The Chocolate Factory looks amazing, with a starting set that seems out of place at first until you realise where you are, the game tells the story through the set design, which is second to none.
The sense of discovery is unbelievable, and each room comes with its own surprises and delights.
The decoration is done to perfection, with so much attention to detail, fun, and utmost whimsy. I was really transported back to being 7 years old again, the sense of childlike wonder this room created was magical.
Immersion was fantastic, you are thrust into this world, and everything within the game is placed precisely to keep your imagination and immersion throughout the game.
This has to be one of the most captivating and clever sets we’ve played through, Enigma have done a tremendous job of delivering a fully realised story through the fantastic set design. The change in each space is dramatic, yet wonderous and again, magical.
The space is large, more than large enough to accommodate 6 players, and lighting was never an issue.

Game Play:
An open game that had many, many puzzle types. Word, Logic, Searching, Observation, Physical, Memory, Teamwork… SO many bases were covered, giving this room a real variation of puzzles means that there will be something for everyone, even for the youngest in your group.
The puzzles were all perfectly in theme, and fit the room with an intrinsic nature that never failed to delight us, from the very moment we entered the puzzles just materialised from within the very fabric of the room and kept on coming! This is a very busy game with plenty of quality content.
The puzzles were excellent in their logic, fun and most importantly had ah-ha moments a-plenty with so many clever tricks and reveals along the way.
The flow of the game was as smooth as a chocolate river, a well-honed game that has clearly been crafted with skill and experience, it shines through when you’re playing the game.
Signposting was subtle, yet well placed when needed there were a fair few places where the player is left to their own devices but this works perfectly well with the explorative nature of the game. IT only allows for a more immersive experience as you really have to take the room in to find the answers you’re looking for.
All in all, Escape the Chocolate Factory is a fantastic game, that I would highly recommend every team playing, from newbie to experienced enthusiast it is sure to delight, entertain and fill you with nostalgia!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a radio, and a screen if needed!  A very nice clue system that delivered cryptic yet very pointed clues.

Game Host:
Nick was our game host (And also the overall owner of Enigma Rooms) and he was fantastic, funny, enthusiastic yet also excellent in his clue delivery timing. A stellar host.

Covid19 Safety:
