Moviescape – Sawtopsy

Moviescape – Sawtopsy.

We were incredibly lucky to be invited to Moviescape to preview their new room, Sawtopsy, which opens this Monday 19/12/2016, as the room was still in Beta testing mode we will review it as it was when we played it!

Theme:
“Inspired by the SAW movie franchise, our SAWTOPSY room is not for the faint-hearted. 

You wake to find yourself in a dirty, dark bathroom with several others. You have one hour to solve the puzzles and work out who is the killer. If you do not succeed, you will be locked in the room…forever.”

Theming in Sawtopsy was superb, from the dank drippy walls, to the out of service sink and toilet, the room had a real grunge to it, which suits the theming perfectly, the lighting was atmospheric, changing depending on the pace of the game, and the soundscape was un-nerving (using classic horror scores to ramp up the tension!). Moviescape create scenarios, immersive and scary… they really take you on a journey through the story within the 60 minutes game time, add in movie quality props and smells and the whole room really comes alive with atmosphere and tension. A quality room!

Game Play:
Game play was linear, with every puzzle being beautifully logical, and fun. Moviescape’s rooms are perfect for beginner escapees as the flow and logic lend themselves very well to a first timer, experienced players will enjoy the outstanding flow and fun puzzles and may well even complete without any hints at all!
There was a good mix of puzzles, logic, word, math, observation… all bases were covered with there being no ambiguity to any puzzles and with where to input a code once found.
Overall, it was a very nice room that will thrill newcomers and allow enthusiasts to really “relax” into the room and take it ALL in!

Clue System:
Clues are delivered in the room by the voice of “The Puzzlemaker”

Game Host:
Carl was our game host, and as ever was so friendly! We didn’t take any hints but it was clear he was watching us closely as he was straight in to fix a minor technical hitch (Which didn’t impact the game in any way)

Did we escape?
Yes, in 38 minutes, and the FIRST EVER GROUP to do so 🙂

Moviescape really are worth checking out, especially for horror fans! We look forward to what they’ve got in store for the future!
