Lucardo – SafeHouse
Location: Rawtenstall
Game Date: 23/08/2019
Team: Amy & Ian
Theme:
“Notorious gangster Tommy Neil is one of the most wanted criminals in the country. You have been chasing his tail without success for nearly ten years, his luck seems to be running out – his right-hand man has turned himself in to the authorities. He is currently in a safe house before being entered into witness protection. As the lead investigation team in this highly coveted case, it is your job to interview the witness and extract everything possible to finally convict Tommy.”
The immersion and story started, like all of Lucardo’s game with a pre-game twist and a character introduction. This was very well done and it really throws you straight into the game.
Once inside the room, the decoration was simple, yet very effective & immersive. The room just kept on going, with plenty of different areas to explore and discover. The room was finished to a high standard, and whilst each area of the game wasn’t huge, there was a creative use of space to make the room feel larger.
Lighting was never an issue within the room.
Game Play:
A fairly linear game, that consisted of plenty of puzzle types. Searching, Observation, Deduction, Teamwork, Physical, Word, Logic. Plenty of puzzle types were covered in this room, which will give every play a chance to shine!
Puzzles were wholly on theme and all served purpose to further the story or give layers to the sense of immersion within the room.
The logic was excellent, and each and every puzzle had wonderful ah-ha moments with great discovery throughout the game. There was a good use of integrated tech, which fitted the theme of the room very well.
The room continually delivered story throughout the puzzles and there is a lot of information to pick up and digest, it is a room where taking in all the details will give a richer and more fulfilling experience.
The signposting in the room was excellent, with there only being enough to make connections but it being delivered very cleverly, and sometimes with subtlety.
The flow of the room was excellent, there were no red-herrings of intentional slowdowns, the game was constantly pressing forward and rewarding us for our efforts.
Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Molly was our game host and she was lovely, fully into the game, and delivered a good brief and story with bags of personality!
