Escape Reality – Auron
Location: Manchester
Game Date: 11/09/2019
Team: Amy & Ian
Theme:
“It is 2035 and you are taking part in a space mission exploring Mars. An unexpected dust storm threatens the whole expedition. During the evacuation from the planet, you and some of your crew got lost and the mission commander believes you’re dead, so has made the hard decision to leave the planet without you…”
Auron takes place in the 2 VR rooms, which unfortunately means that VR is no longer available at Escape Reality, but hey… a good escape room is in its place so it’s a win!
Auron looked good, whilst not the most immersive space it was used as best as it could be, and there is nothing in the room set to distract the players.
The space is not huge but this isn’t impactful on the game as it’s limited to 3 players max and this is a good thing (bigger groups will be split, I assume, as there are 2 copies of this game)
The decoration was good, not too much and everything was incorporated into the puzzles within the room.
Lighting was never a problem.
Game Play:
A pretty much open game, with a good variation of puzzles, but focussing mainly on logic, teamwork, observation and codebreaking.
Puzzles were excellent in their logic, with absolutely clear and completely unambiguous answers and lovely ah-ha moments.
Whilst experienced escapees will recognise most (if not all) off these puzzles, there is still a nice sense of progression and satisfaction of solving the puzzles in this room.
The puzzles were nicely on theme and delivered creatively through a decent use of tech, and some interaction within the room.
Signposting was tip-top… not much more I can say it was a pretty perfectly signposted room.
Flow was also excellent, and the open nature will keep all team members busy!
Clue System:
Clues were delivered via an iPad.
Game Host:
Fin was our game host and he was very accommodating, friendly and professional. He delivered a good brief and backstory to the room!
Did we escape?
Yes, in 24 minutes, setting the room record!
