Theme:
“You and your friends have snuck in to the laboratory of world revered scientist, Professor Wotamesser, in the hope of finding the ingredients you need for your practical jokes.
You’re just reaching for the bottle of snake venom when you accidentally knock over a bubbling flask, releasing an evil smelling gas into the air. Oh no!
Will you be able to find the antidote before the fumes finish you off and will you complete the science experiments and escape before the professor returns to discover who has messed up her life’s work?”
Gas Alert looked great! Upon entering the room I was instantly taken back 20-odd years (yeah I’m that old) to being in school and in chemistry lessons, the set was perfectly decorated in a “chemistry class” feel. I can’t express how spot on it was! The game started quite excitingly with an accident and the science touches throughout the room were fantastic.
The game moved on into a more secretive space, a proper lair which was a difference from the bright science “lab” but never-the-less, it was still decorated and finished to a high standard.
The space was large bright and airy and the maximum of 8 players would never be a problem.
Game Play:
An open game that had many different puzzle types, word, math, observation, physical, logic, codebreaking, searching and even science experiments!
All the puzzles were really on the science spectrum, but they were never overly complicated or convolouted, in fact all of them had wonderful logic behind them with some really fun ah-ha moments, that kept us surprised and delighted throughout the game.
The game was packed FULL of puzzles, there is always something to do in this room and the open nature was well recieved as it prevented any “brain fog” from occuring, giving us something to bounce onto should we not be getting a puzzle quickly.
Signposting was clear in this room, without being over directive.
Flow was wonderfully fast paced, with lots of snappy puzzles that kept us moving forward and steady throughout the game.
A great game all round that is balanced, fun and interesting. One of the best “lab” themed rooms out there.
Clue System:
Clues were delivered via voiceover in the room
Game Host:
Tess was our game host and she was very accomodating and welcoming. Her brief was thorough and delivered well, and the game introduction was done with a great sense of humour!
She delivered clues with absoloute precision throughout the game.
Covid19 Safety:
We felt very safe at One Way Out, the rooms were all very clean and facemasks were required at all times, but all parties.
Did we escape?
Yes, in 53 minutes (70 minute game)

Thankyou Amy for this extremely detailed review. I’m delighted you loved our science game. Thirty years of science teaching wasn’t in vain then?! I used to read your blogs before I set my rooms up and was in awe of your reviews. Now I have a couple for myself! Thankyou.
