Game Date: 28/07/2021
Team: Amy & Ian
Duration: 60 Minutes
Theme:
“Zombies are roaming the streets; no one is safe. Humanity’s only hope is an elite group of scientists, gathered together to find a cure. Rumour has it, the scientists have fallen prey to the flesh eating monsters. Luckily the cure has been safeguarded.
The fate of the world is in your hands… you’ve gained access to the lab to find the
cure. Unluckily, you’ve been exposed to the active zombie pathogen in the lab and
you have 1 hour before you turn. Can you get through the scientist’s defences to
find the cure, save yourself and the world?”
Zombie Lab started off quite bare and stark, once we got into the lab the theming improved, and there was evidence of zombies, and some immersion which was done quite well, but overall it was a fairly lightly decorated room with the only visual aspects being used in the game itself.
Lighting was good, and it was a large space once all opened up.
Game Play:
A game that encompasses both linear and open moments, with a good mix of puzzles, making this one of Breakout’s better games.
The puzzles ranged from light physical, logic, observation, word and math. The puzzles were all nicely logical, nothing exemplary or illogical, fair puzzles that were easily solvable, pleasant enough and certainly scratched the escape itch.
There were a couple of nice ah-ha moments, and the puzzles fit well into the narrative of the room and linked back to a few of the other rooms at Breakout, this was appreciated!
Signposting was basic but fair and led is mostly in the correct direction throughout the game.
Flow was good, not massively slick but there weren’t any sticky spots. There was a moment where we thought we had bypassed a puzzles but this was just the open nature of the game and we had to go back and still complete the puzzle to finish the game.
A very enjoyable game that isn’t going to wow enthusiasts, but at the same time is a lot of fun and perfect for newer teams
Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen in the room
Game Host:
I’m having a name blank on our host, but was Australian, and great. Really attentive and delivered us good nudges when needed
Covid19 Safety:
