Theme:
“You’ll have 60minutes to solve puzzles and find clues in your search to find Father Daniels, who has mysteriously disappeared. His last known location was at the home of a 12 year old girl who he believes was possessed by a vicious demon.

You must head to the house and search for the missing priest & assist him with the exorcism.
Be warned, unholy things have been happening in the house, you’ll need to bring your courage and logic, as you come face to face with the demon in a final battle of Good vs Evil!”

Now, I am not scared of a lot of things (although I do like being scared in a scary room) but with regards to horror movies, nothing scares me… I laughed my way through the nun and delighted in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
The Exorcist however is in a whole other realm of scary, and I don’t know what possessed me to play this game after my near breakdown going through the Haunted House at Halloween Horror Nights in 2016… and my bolting through the Exorcist Room at “El Pasage Del Terror” in Blackpool… maybe I do WANT to be scared!

Theming was good, starting off in the bedroom of the ever-so-lovely Reagan and moving further into the depths of hell as we continued our mission. The theming got better as the game went on, becoming more complex and immersive (there’s only so much you can put into a “bedroom” and the decor was just right for that!)
The use of lighting and sound was great, and the game was very atmospheric with some excellent jump scares and tense, creepy moments.
The space was more than large enough for the recommended max of 6, and the atmospheric lighting never impacted our gameplay.
A really fun room that brought to life the world of the exorcist without going too far to make it so scary it would become unplayable.

Game Play:
A fairly linear game which had some really lovely puzzles and some unique ideas mixed in with some more familiar things. Word, logic, immersion, observation… there were lots of puzzle types covered so every team member is going to find their time to shine and have their moment.
All of the puzzles were logical, some taking a little longer to come to the logic (which was probably our fault!) but once realised the logic was clear and concise.
Puzzles were all in theme and I enjoyed the development of the puzzles throughout the game, they grew with the story and took on the same darkness that the story did during your time in the game.
Signposting was fair, but not directional, guided but still left us to think for ourselves and outside the box on quite a few occasions.
The flow was good, with the intensity paralleling the story and the pace picking up as the hour went on.
A great game for those that like a creative take on a well-known story with good solid puzzles, and a few excellent scares along the way!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a voice-over in the room.

Game Host:
Sean was our host (and also the owner of Contained) and he was great, we have crossed paths a few times in the Scare Industry (not Escape Rooms!) and he is a super horror fan, having created a brilliant event a few years ago which was a lot of fun!
His Escape Room passion is clearly flowing and you can feel that in the design of the room, and his hosting which was excellent!

Did we escape?
Yes, in about 45 minutes IIRC
