Theme:
“There has been a secret pirate house discovered in the heart of Nottingham which is full of treasures. Many people have tried to acquire the treasures, however the pirates have always caught them during the mischief and threw them into prison. Up until now, no one has left the pirate shelter alive. The time has come for anyone to outsmart the pirates’s leery mentality. What do you need in order to find the final key to escape? Common sense, communication and teamwork.”

Theming in the room was good, with all the stereotypes you’d come to expect from a pirate room. The decoration was very nice and fitting, although I felt there was a bit too much “stuff”… I understand that a pirate lair would have lots of stuff, so from a visual pov this was lovely, but in the realm of an escape room, this can be off-putting when searching for things and deciphering vital information and it takes up time when looking for what to use. The room used smell very successfully, the room smelled “piratey” – now exactly what that was I can’t put my finger on, but it was a wonderful touch!

Game Play:
A very classic escape room, with lots of locks to bust open, a good variety of puzzles, including a massive maths puzzle that got us a bit stuck, but all the other puzzles were slick and logical, and mainly on theme. Covering all bases from observation, to word, to code breaking, map reading and lots of searching.
The room had a lovely flow and we didn’t find any logic leaps in the puzzles.
A great room for beginners and families (I can imagine kids LOVING this room) more experienced players will have fun, but may want to take a smaller team to make sure they have to work a little harder!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Game Host:
Adam was our game host, and delivered an excellent well rehearsed brief and was very friendly and professional. He ran our game well and delivered clues with excellent timing.

Did we escape?
Yes! In 54 minutes, bloody maths.
