The Panic Room – Old Father Time

The Panic Room – Old Father Time.
Location: Gravesend
Game Date 22/08/2017.
Team: Amy & Ian

“It’s new year’s eve and Old Father Time has gone missing. Without him there the clocks won’t reset at midnight and time itself will stop completely. You must work together to find out where he went, restore time and reset the clocks so that time may continue on.

Explore his beautiful tree cabin and discover the secrets inside. An awesome fairy tale escape room where time is more important than ever!

Perfect adults and kids alike, we allow 8 years plus in this room. Don’t let the beautiful scenery fool you, tricky challenges and puzzles lie ahead but surely you can save the day!”

What can I say about this room except…. It’s so. damn. pretty. A true fairytale come to life, with nothing left unnoticed, every inch of this room is decorated to perfection, all handcrafted wood and fairytale trees, woodland creatures and hidden nooks and crannies to explore. One area where The Panic Room excels is its padlocks, they source the most beautiful, ornate padlocks that compliment the room perfectly. It’s just picturesque, and wouldn’t look out of place in Fantasyland.
The room is of a good size, but there is an element of crawling throughout the game. I can imagine kids LOVING this room! There are magical touches all about the room (Which I am adamant NOT to spoil!!)

Game Play:
A beautifully linear game told in a unique way (again, no spoilers sorry!) but this method gives a clear indication as to how far along in the game you are, and whilst there are some open elements, the main story driven part of the game is linear (and the story is the most important factor in this game)
The puzzles were varied and contained logic, to music, to observation and searching. No leaps of logic in this room, it’s perfectly pitched to families.
Each puzzle had a lovely ah-ha moment and the flow was sublime, with each puzzle solving leading on to the next with ease, and we only got stuck when it was our fault and we missed something (we did have a little problem with a bit of tech BUT this was down to my incapacity to work it properly!)
This room is perfect for families, as a first escape room for children. Yet enthusiasts will appreciate it’s theming and puzzles (which are all perfectly on theme) It’s a must do!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen (and another secret method! NO SPOILERS!)

Game Host:
Lizzie was our game host and she delivered a great brief, and delivered our clues well (although I think Alex, the owner of the Panic Rooms had a hand in a few of the clues 😉 )
She was gracious, funny and personable, another credit to the Panic Room Staff!

Did we escape?
Yes, in 43 minutes, which earned us a place on the leader board!
