Location: Canterbury
Game Date 23/08/2017.

“The night is almost over and the stormy seas are calming after the battle between you and your rival pirates. You and your crew have have successfully defeated them and now there is just one thing left to do – climb aboard the famous ship known as “The Dark Soul” and find the only piece of treasure every pirate wants, ‘The Black Diamond’. Whoever is in possession of this rare, infamous diamond will have more wealth and power than they could ever imagine! But a problem lies in your way. Throughout the battle the ship became damaged and is sinking fast. You now have just one hour to find the diamond and get back to your ship before the ocean claims you and what will be known as its wealthiest shipwreck. Will you become the most powerful pirate known to man, or will you be spending eternity down in Davy Jones locker?”

This room! Wow. We were suitably impressed, this is the first time we have seen a pirate ship truly split over 2 decks… y’know the type with the wheel above the Captain’s cabin… this is a truly impressive room and beautifully crafted, with excellent attention to detail and immersion. A large room, which is quite physical due to the 2 decks! Bravo!

Game Play:
A fairly linear game, with a whole wealth of puzzles, word, logic, observation, codebreaking & physical.
With every puzzle being perfectly logical, with great ah-ha moments leading to solid conclusions. With a lovely mix of padlocks and technology, but nothing that was out of themes.
This room didn’t suffer from the same fate as Kidnapped as the starting point was blatantly clear, which lead to a wonderful flow in the room, and we didn’t feel slowed or stuck on anything, and it was always obvious what answer lead to which padlock. Excellent game design.
On a personal note, it was like this room was built for Ian and I. We have never been so at ease in a room in regards to puzzles… answers came instantly and not a single clue was given or needed. I enjoyed the puzzles a lot in this room!
This would be a great room for first timers, enthusiasts may find it a little on the easy side but will certainly appreciate the work gone into creating the room.

Clue System:
