witch

Theme:
“Alone in the woods, a cabin you find, 60 minutes to escape or go out of your mind!
Can you escape the clutches of the witches spell?
Solve the puzzles and cast your own spell; to escape!”

Set in a bunker style building used for laser tag, The Witching Hour made good use of the space provided to it, which gave the Witch’s hut a realistic feel, at least underfoot! The decor in the room was kept quite simple, and under the guise of dim lighting the space took on a creepy vibe. The room was quite sparsley decorated, this helped the game as there was nothing to get confused over, but there was a certain amount of detail lacking. Despite this however the room was incredibly charming and had some nice unexpected moments.
The room itself was plenty large enough. Lighing was very dim, but a torch was provided.

Game Play:
A linear game that had a good array of puzzles that focused on observation, logic, codebreaking and searching.
Puzzles had nice ah-ha moments and were fairly straightforward in their logic. They were mostly on theme to the room and a couple had nice mechanics that made the room more immersive and fun.
There was a fair amount of variation in the room, but there were moments where items were used more than once, so be aware of this mechanic. It caught us out a couple of times!
The flow was good, with us only hitting a sticky spot towards the end of the game.
Signposting was very minimal, with it being there for crucial moments but mostly players were left to their own devices.
A good room with some solid puzzles and devices within the room.

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Game Host:
I didn’t catch our host’s name, unfortunately, but he was friendly, professional and delivered a good brief and appropriate clues within the game.

Did we escape?
Yes, in 42 minutes
