Theme:
“The Mad Hatter is in trouble. Save him from the Queen of Hearts without losing your heads.

Step into Wonderland, where the Hatter has been accused of stealing the Queen’s Tarts. With Alice nowhere to be seen, it’s time for you to fill her shoes.

You find yourself at the Hatter’s cottage. The table is set but no one is around.

A sign on the lawn reads ‘Tea Party Cancelled by Royal Decree’. Curiouser and curiouser…

Find and return the Queen’s Tarts in 60 minutes, or it’s off with the Hatter’s head. Chop chop.”

Alice looked very pretty, with plenty of attention to detail that created an immersive environment.
The set build was finished to a high standard, and all the things you would expect from Alice in Wonderland were there, with the Mad Hatter’s house and tea party being the main focus of the design.
The space isn’t HUGE and there were a few times our team of 6 got in each others way, but it wasn’t crowded or claustrophobic.
Lighting was excellent, and never caused a problem.
A very charming and well-finished room.

Game Play:
A fairly linear game that had some open moments. Puzzles were varied and consisted of logic, observation, physical, deduction, word & searching.
The puzzles were all nicely in theme, and whilst there were no logic leaps as such, some critical thinking was needed to reach the answers on some puzzles, after all, not all is as it seems in Wonderland.
There was a good selection of puzzles which really let each person in our team have something to do and solve, we all got different aspects of the game and this was wonderful to experience… (this is the 2nd time I’ve ever played in a 6)
The room was well suited to this larger group dynamic (although I could also see it being totally achievable had it just been Ian and myself)
The flow was good, and there were no real sticking points, puzzles flowed freely and smoothly.
Signposting was good when it was included but there were some spots where it was not included and thus left the players to find those critical thinking moments mentioned earlier.
A lovely, playeable game that kept our whole team thoroughly entertained for the time we were in the room.

Clue System:
Clues came via a voice-over in the room.

Game Host:
Sean was our host, and he was lovely. Welcoming and friendly. He delivered excellent hints throughout the hour

Did we escape?
Yes, in about 40 minutes.
