Lakes Escapes – Casino Heist

Lakes Escapes – Casino Heist
Location: Workington
Game Date: 30/06/2021
Team: Amy & Ian
Duration: 60 Minutes

Theme:
“you have been selected from the best code breakers and diamond thieves in the country. A notorious criminal gang, The Barco Syndicate, have summoned you for the biggest heist of your lives. Putting your reputation on the line as the best team for the job, you are to enter an underground casino, where the famous Shadow Diamonds are held in the vault. The problem is you only have 60 minutes to pull off this job as the casino is opening soon and the staff will be arriving. But, there is a twist, you have the opportunity to take a further 9 million dollars in cold hard cash if you have the time and the nerve. Can you take the full 30 million dollar haul?”

Wow! Casino Heist look amazing, with a detailed and realistic set that screamed luxury and “casino” – it was so very immersive.. from the real slot machine (which is HUGE!) to the card table, and roulette wheel, the attention to detail is astounding and finished to the highest order. We were enthralled and immersed from the second we started the game (and Casino Heist has one of the most unique and fun starts to a game we have encountered… it really got the adrenaline flowing and got us invested in the story) an absolutely gorgeous room!

The room is very spacious, and whilst there are some smaller areas, these are still roomy enough for most of the team. Lighting was excellent, and never impacted gameplay at all.

Game Play:
A game that had some open elements, in that there were parallel puzzle paths to take, which is wonderful as you can quite happily jump from path to path and not get “brain tired” on one specific puzzle. Although there were clear, and defined pivotal moments to the game that directed you through it.
Puzzles were varied, with math, logic, observation, physical, teamwork, codebreaking, tactile and searching all abundant in the room.
Each and every puzzle was so delightfully logical, that it was an utter joy to play. Whilst the puzzles came thick and fast, so did their answers and we were constantly remarking “such a good puzzle” for almost the entire game. The puzzles were all perfectly on theme too, with them effortless materialising from the room itself, unfolding and presenting at the perfect moments.
The last part of the game is a frantic puzzle solving heaven, with a few trickier puzzles to really test your grit and determination.
Signposting was perfect, with enough to guide us but never too much to make us feel handheld through the game.
Flow was exciting, fast paced and relentless. A true enthusiasts mecca, make sure you’ve a few games under your belt before playing this one, you’ll have a better time for it!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Game Host:
John and Carol were our game hosts, and they were just wonderful, so chatty, personable and ran the game with absolute perfection. You can’t get better hosts.

Covid19 Safety:
Lakes Escapes takes covid safety very seriously, masks were worn at all times, and there was copious hand santizer stations around and in the rooms themselves. They also have a fogger machine that cleans the rooms, and extra time is taken to clean spaces between each group.

Did we escape?
Yes, with almost all the cash!
