Hounds Escape – Questionable Ethics
Location: Crawley
Game Date: 07/10/2021
Team: Amy & Ian
Duration: 60 Minutes
Theme:
“It’s the swinging 60s, an era of tree-hugging, flower-power hippies… But not everything is so rosey. Civilians are going missing. Free spirited brothers and sisters disappearing every week. Anyone who points the blame on the government vanishes the next day. Join the protests, find a way into their testing facility and expose the truth before you find out the authorities real intentions.”
Questionable Ethics hit the mark on every aspect of theming, the room was immersive and had a certain dystopian feel to it, that only served to further the story and immersion of the game. The development of the game into a government facility was done exceptionaly well, and the game had a marvelous sense of exploration and discovery. The room was large and atmospherically lit throughout, and decorated to a high standard.
Game Play:
An open game that sets to test out every aspect of intelligence, so there is something for everyone in this game. Word, logic, searching, observation, skill, physical, teamwork, all bases were covered with some ingenious puzzling twists and turns.
The first half of the game was very unique, with a fairly open selection of puzzles all with wonderful ah-ha moments, great game play and elegant soloutions. This continued in the latter half of the game, in a more standard escape room style, but still with plenty of story, excellent puzzles and pure, concise logic.
Every single puzzle in the game was well thought out, designed well and wholly solveable, with excellent ah-ha moments.
Signposting was near perfection, with just enough to subtly guide, yet you were left feeling a true sense of discovery, especially in the latter half of the game.
Flow was superb, natural, intrinsic and with good connections throughout the game, this was a game that never felt forced or disingenous.
A geniunely well designed game which is clear to be designed by someone who understands escape rooms, puzzles and players.
